Hosts Kenya were held to a goalless draw against Ethiopia in an exciting group A encounter played at Nyayo Stadium in the second game of the GOtv Cecafa Senior Challenge on Wednesday.
The well attended game started on a low note with both sides playing cautiously with the visitors who just arrived a day before keeping the hosts at bay Thok James and Salhadin Bargecho impressing.
The second half was a see saw affair with both coaches ringing changes that did not materialize into goals. Jacob Keli came on for David Gateri while Mulinge Ndeto replaced Musa Mohamed.
Ethiopia coach Sewnet Bishaw was impressed with his team’s performance.
"I am very happy with the one point since this team has been together for only four days before we travelled to Kenya. This is a development side and we have nothing to lose but we will play our next opponents seriously while hoping for the best."
His counterpart James Nandwa who was standing in for Adel Amrouche who went Awol shared the same sentiments.
"It was a tough game but we are happy with the single point as Ethiopia are a very good side .We are optimistic we will give our best in the upcoming matches," Nandwa told supersport.com.
The result means Zanzibar are on top of group A with three points followed by Kenya and Ethiopia who have a point each while South Sudan are last with no point after losing to Zanzibar.
